The IPIP-NEO-120 and RIASEC Translation Consulting Project

CXS Analytics Collaboration with UPSI

In 2022, CXS Analytics Sdn Bhd began partnering with UPSI.

The collaboration has a shared goal: to help the development of talents in navigating their journey from education to meaningful employment. Through our cloud-based platform, we focus on understanding each individual beyond academic results by capturing their personality, interests, and cognitive strengths. With these insights, we help connect learners to career paths where they are most likely to succeed, making talent development more personalised, purposeful, and effective.

As part of our broader efforts, and in collaboration with TalentCorp, CXS also manages the MyNext Portal, a platform that integrates various assessment tools to support career decision-making for students, universities, and employers. Through our partnership with UPSI, we further enhance student profiling by incorporating comprehensive psychometric data gathered in collaboration with the university.

To strengthen our effort in producing better talents, we funded UPSI’s Psychology Department for two key initiatives led by Associate Professor Dr. Hazalizah binti Hamzah. The first was a project to back-translate the IPIP-NEO-120 and RIASEC assessments into the Malay language. The second was a project to develop a bilingual Cognitive Ability Assessment featuring 10 sets of Cognitive Ability Assessments in Malay and 10 sets in English, with each set containing 50 items, making a total of 1,000 items.

The CXS Cognitive Ability Assessment covers four domains of ability, namely quantitative knowledge, comprehension knowledge, visual reasoning, and fluid reasoning. Four other lecturers involved in this project are Dr. Fatanah Ramlee, Dr. Priyalatha a/p Govindasamy, and Dr. Asma Perveen from the Department of Psychology at FPM, as well as Dr. Siti Shuhauda Shukor from the Department of English, Faculty of Language and Communication.

In addition to that, a Knowledge Transfer Programme grant was provided to support the sharing of UPSI’s psychometric expertise with CXS and the MyNext initiative. This collaboration was formally launched on May 23, 2023, during a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) ceremony officiated by UPSI Vice-Chancellor YBhg. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Md. Amin Md. Taff, who also recognised UPSI as a CXS subject matter expert.

We look forward to building on this partnership through ongoing consultancy and joint projects that continue to strengthen the future of talent development in Malaysia.
